Lorenzo Patino

Licensed Paralegal

Biography

After working for more than six years for the Ministry of the Attorney General, Lorenzo left to work in the private sector in 2018.  He brings to Caza Saikaley a wealth of knowledge with respect to the Superior Court of Justice and the Small Claims Court, a department he worked in for over four years.  Specializing in Civil Enforcement, Lorenzo knows how to utilize the various powers of the Court in getting results for clients in collecting the amounts owed to them after judgment.  Lorenzo also has experience with the Repair and Storage Liens Act, the Courts of Justice Act, the Creditor’s Relief Act, and on two separate occasions was a Court Enforcement Officer delegate for the Province of Ontario.

Lorenzo now provides legal services in Ontario as a licensed paralegal. He has focused primarily on the Small Claims Court and the Landlord and Tenant Board, but has already taken on cases in other venues and tribunals such as the Ontario Dispute Adjudication for Constructions Contracts process.

Prior to entering the legal field, Lorenzo pursued his PhD at the University of Ottawa in Linguistics, with a specialization in Forensic Linguistics, for which he obtained a Master of Arts from Cardiff University (U.K.) in 2005.  Lorenzo also has a degree in Communication Studies from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, California, which he obtained in 2003.

In his free time, Lorenzo is a semi-professional stand-up comedian who has performed at several venues in Ottawa, Montreal, and the surrounding area.  He has been a semi-finalist in numerous comedy competitions and was a finalist in Ottawa’s Cracking up the Capital contest in 2018 and Yuk Yuk’s Summer Comedy Competition in 2021.
